Hello September! The start of the new month means that it’s time to lay out our September project plans! This is going to be a very busy month for us. I’m starting my final semester of school tomorrow, and that means that in December, I will graduate with my master’s in Interior Architecture & Design! I can’t tell you how excited I am to be almost finished with school because it sucks up so much of my time. Here is what we’ve got planned for September!

#1 – Puppy Potty Training

September is also going to be busy because of this little guy…

That is our new baby…Boomer. He’s sweet, and naughty, and adorable, and we love him to pieces! This month we will be working on potty training our little rascal. So far, he’s doing a good job using his new potty area, but he still seems to prefer peeing on our rugs inside rather than going outside. A work in progress…but just look at that face!

#2 Reclaimed Wood Walls

About two months ago, we placed a huge barn wood order from a local company, and it finally came in!

We have three places that we are going to be installing our reclaimed wood: 1) around our basement wet bar, 2) as an accent wall in my son’s room, and 3) as an accent wall behind the entertainment unit in our basement. We plan to start at least one of the walls this next week. Here is a picture of a bar wrapped in reclaimed wood. Ours would be similar, with a few unique Welsh Design Studio tweaks.

#3- Barn Doors

Back in August (and even before), we talked about how we are planning to install barn doors in both of our kids rooms. We ordered a door for my daughter’s room a month ago, and it just came in to the store. The problem is…it’s the wrong door, and doesn’t have the right profile for a chalkboard. So, we are back to square one with a new door order. Grrrrr. We are planning to make our son’s barn door using leftover reclaimed/barn wood from our big wall order.

#4 – New Products

This Fall we are planning to participate in a few local holiday craft fairs, which will be a new adventure for us. So, we are going to be busy this month making products for the fairs. We’ve got some great new items in the pipeline, and will be revealing them throughout the month. One of our new products is a bit of a departure from our normal woodworking…candles! I love to burn candles throughout the Fall and Holiday seasons, so we are making samples this month to ensure we have the best smelling seasonal candles around! They will be making an appearance in our shop this month!

I’m feeling tired just thinking about all of our project plans for the month ahead! Of course, that could also be because little Boomer is keeping us up at night…the little rascal!
