May 2017 Project Plans

Can you guys believe it’s May already!?! I’ve got about four weeks of school left, and then I’m off for the summer…woohoo! School is kicking my butt, in terms of taking up all of my free time, so I’m ready for a break. And, that means I’ll have some time for some long overdue projects! For this month, however, I’ve only got a couple of things on my project plate. Here are our project plans for May.

Laundry Room

This is actually a big project, but I’m gonna get it started for sure this month. Here is what the room looks like today. Eeek! Talk about airing your dirty laundry!

So, that means I’ll be adding some upper cabinets, and I plan to paint them either SW’s Black Fox or perhaps SW’s Urbane Bronze. They are very similar, but one is a little more gray and one has a little more brown. Which one do you like better? I dunno, maybe I should go with plain black instead? Decisions, decisions…

I will also be adding floating shelves in between the cabinets, similar to this. We thought about putting a hanging bar between the cabinets, but I don’t think I will use it as much as the shelves. So, shelves it is!

Fo a countertop over the washer/dryer, we will be using butcher block, like in the inspiration picture. And, finally we’ll also be installing a patterned tile backsplash. I’m thinking about one of these three choices…what do you think?

Closets

When we built our new house, we didn’t do anything special in the closets. But, now it’s time for a little organization! We like to use Container Store’s Elfa system, and are planning to put in new systems in the kids’ closets. For our closet, we’re going to spring a little, and get a new built-in system, but that’s on hold for now (expensive!). The kids’ should be done in May, however.
