Lackluster Lingerie Chest is Now Pretty in Pink!

Hey there! When I talked about my project plans for July, I showed you a picture of the unfinished lingerie chest I was planning to makeover. This rather dull chest of drawers was used in my son’s closet for years. But, once we installed a new closet system in our current house, the unfinished chest of drawers became homeless. Never one to pass up a furniture makeover opportunity, I was certain I could breathe new life into this naked piece of furniture. Here is what the lingerie chest looked like before we got started on our makeover.

unfinished dresser before and after

To spice things up a bit, we made a bottom piece to match the top, and attached it to the bottom to the chest. We also added some cute little bun feet to give it a more feminine look. Next, I painted it with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Arabesque. It is such a perfect pink color! I’m still on my milk paint kick…

I really wanted this chest of drawers to have a girly look…probably because it looked so masculine to start with.  So, I added some hand-painted flowers, leaves, and even a couple of butterflies. The hand-painting was something new for me – I’m usually a stencil girl.

A girly chest of drawers needs a little bling, right? I added some beautiful Crystal Glass Knobs that I purchased from Amazon to finish it off. We used these same knobs in my daughter’s bathroom, and I just love them. The quality is superb, and the price is fantastic! Home Depot had similar knobs for over $4 each…I bought 6 of these on Amazon for under $14. Woohoo!

Lot’s of fun little changes really make a big difference! Ta da!! Here is our transformed lingerie chest…all pretty in pink! She is going to add such a beautiful, feminine touch to someone’s room! Yes, she is going to be sold, although this lovely lady is going to be hard to part with. 🙂

Definitely one of the BEST makeovers I’ve seen on a simple chest of drawers. Whomever buys it is a lucky person.

This is so cute and would be great for lingerie. Love the painted flowers and butterflies and the sparkly knobs. If I had this, I would have to buy some more underwear to fill it up. LOL

    • mwelsh July 22, 2017 at 10:28 am

Thanks Theresa! The crystal knobs are my favorite part!

Thank you, Rebecca! The hand painting was really scary, but fun! I’m definitely going to have to try it again sometime!

I just love that shade of pink! It is hard to get pink just perfect, but Miss Mustard Seed hit a home run with this one!

Doesn’t it feel great to spruce something up and give it new life elsewhere in the house? Pink is very in right now, and I love it, too. You are such a talented artist ~ my freehand flowers wouldn’t even come close to yours lol Thanks so much for sharing over at Vintage Charm!

I have so much fun doing furniture makeovers! It is a great outlet for my creative juices! Adding the hand-painted flowers was actually very scary, because most of the time if I paint something and don’t like it, I can start over. Messing up the paint on this wasn’t gonna be an option! 🙂
