I love paint!  It’s such a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to significantly change the look of a room. We have a little breakfast nook off of the kitchen that has been painted a sandy beige color for the last four years.  It was time for a change – to Sherwin Williams Dovetail!

Sherwin Williams Dovetail

Before

This little nook is right off of our kitchen. With the brown floors, wood baseboards, and beige paint, the room was looking too warm and orange to me.

We decided to go with a darker gray paint from Sherwin Williams, called Dovetail. Dovetail is such a beautiful gray, with warm undertones, so it goes well with warmer colors in a home. Since we currently have warm colors in our kitchen, including maroon cabinets (see my post about Dreaming of a White Kitchen), adding in some gray is a nice way to shake things up.

Another great thing about adding a darker color on the walls in this room is the way it makes all of the white in the room pop! The white shutters and white Pottery Barn organizer system stand out so much more! And, now the floors don’t look as orange to me, but instead they contrast nicely with the gray paint.

Isn’t paint fun? I just love using paint to change a room, and create drama in a space. Sherwin Williams Dovetail is a beautiful gray for accent walls, and definitely livened up our little breakfast nook!
