MEET MELISSA

When Andrew and I bought our first house, it was outdated and needed a lot of improvements. We were strapped for cash and just starting a family, so making changes to the house ourselves was a necessity. As we saw our home transform one project at a time, we felt proud of our accomplishments and DIY soon became a passion! After spending 15 years working full-time as an engineer, I was ready for a change, and finally decided to pursue my love for home improvement with a career change to Interior Design. I now have a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture & Design.

I firmly believe that interior design should be affordable, and I know what it’s like to want a beautiful home, but not have the budget to match. I love being a designer and working with clients to create beautiful and functional spaces, customized for their budget and lifestyle. I also love helping people save money by tackling design and home improvement projects on their own. That’s why we created our blog – to share our projects, interior design tips, decorating ideas, inspiration, and DIY tutorials, so you can create the home you’ve been dreaming of. 

Andrew and I have two great kids (teenagers now) who have lived through a lot of DIY projects. When I’m not spending time designing, you’ll find me driving my kids around, drinking wine with friends, playing volleyball, planning our next vacation, and daydreaming about our next home improvement project (poor Andrew). 

MEET ANDREW

I still remember the countless hours we spent scraping popcorn ceilings and removing wallpaper in that first house! Most of my working life has been spent teaching high school science and coaching football, but I’m also a trained Woodworker. Melissa always had “plans” for our homes and we spent many a weekend updating and improving our houses with a limited budget, often learning as we went. Now we are excited to use our experience to help others improve their homes with custom built-ins, trim work, and furniture. When I’m not in our workshop you’ll find me reading, hanging out with my family, or watching sports.
