The 2018 Paint Colors of the Year have been announced by leading paint manufacturers. These colors give us some insight into design trends for the upcoming year. Shall we take a look?

Benjamin Moore

Benjamin Moore’s color of the year for 2018 is Caliente (AF-290). I must say this one was a little bit of a surprise for me, but I really love this bold, beautiful red. This would make a fantastic painted door or accent wall.

According to Benjamin Moore…”Caliente is the signature color of a modern architectural masterpiece; a lush carpet rolled out for a grand arrival; the assured backdrop for a book-lined library; a powerful first impression on a glossy front door. The eye can’t help but follow its bold strokes. Harness the vitality.”

Check out these beautiful rooms painted in Caliente.

Sherwin Williams

Another bright hue for 2018, Sherwin Williams’ Oceanside (SW 6496) is a deep, rich blue-green that works well with many different design styles.

According to the company, Oceanside is “a complex, deep color that offers a sense of the familiar with a hint of the unknown, Oceanside, bridges together a harmonious balance of blues and greens that can be found in what’s old and new.” Check out these pretty rooms…

PPG

Black Flame is the PPG color of the year for 2018.

Now this was an interesting choice. According to PPG, Black Flame is “a fantastic blend of black and navy, two classic hues. Black creates the silence we crave in an information-heavy world, while the navy offers possibility and a deep hopefulness. The blend of two colors makes it incredibly versatile – use it on a statement wall, with a matte finish on a ceiling, with high gloss on a naturally-lit staircase, on cabinets, interior and exterior doors, and in many more places. The versatile hue can also provide strength and a modern luxe vibe to spaces with a lot of whites, blush pinks and soft pastels.” It’s a really interesting color, I must say.

Behr

I really love Behr’s choice for 2018 – In the Moment.

It’s the perfect blend of blue-green and gray, and is so soothing and versatile. I like it so much that I’ve been trying to find something in my house to paint this lovely hue. Take a look at these gorgeous rooms…

Kelly Moore

Kelly Moore’s color of the year for 2018 is Bahia Grass.

According to Kelly Moore,  there is a return of 1970’s influence and browns are going to become the dominant neutral in 2018. I’m not so sure about that, but OK. Bahia Grass is a pretty color, but it just doesn’t excite me. In fact, I could hardly find any pictures of rooms painted with Bahia Grass. I only found this one pretty entryway…

So, there you have it…the 2018 Paint Colors of the Year. What do you think, do these colors inspire you? Which one do you like the best?
