A few weeks ago I shared a partial tour of our new home (you can see that post here). Today, I’ll show several more rooms as they look today. I have big plans (in my head) for every room, but if I waited until the rooms were done to show them to you, you’d be waiting a long, long time. So, now you’ll be able to see them as they are today, and enjoy the changes as they come. I’ll also share my plans for updating each room. So, without further ado, here is the second tour of our home.

Mudroom

Here is our mudroom. I love the fact that we have one, but I have a serious issue with it.  When the builder showed me a picture of what the mudroom would look like, it had cubbies under the bench.  Then when they built it, they put in this huge hinged seat, but no cubbies.  It might distress you to know that I’m ripping out that hinged bench as soon as I can, because it just doesn’t work for our family.  We desperately need cubbies to throw our shoes in (like in our last mudroom). And, I’ll probably add a shelf above the hooks, too.  All in good time…

My Daughter’s Room

I have been spending the last two days painting my daughter’s room, and I’m rather embarrassed by how sore my entire body is today. Since when is painting so strenuous?!?!? Anyway…here is a pic of my daughter’s room.  She has a new bed, and new bedding (both from Pottery Barn Teen), which to my delight she religiously makes every day.  At least one of my children makes their bed…

The turquoise paint on the walls really helped to brighten the room up.  We painted the walls Benjamin Moore’s Ocean Spray.  The wall behind the bed has to wait until a) we can move the bed, and b) we can decide what color we want to paint.  We are thinking of doing a coral or magenta accent wall there (you can see the paint samples on the wall), or we may just paint more Ocean Spray.

Kitchen

I’m just gonna say it…I love our new white kitchen!  If you’ve been following me for a while now, you know how badly I wanted a white kitchen in my previous house.  Well, now I’ve got it…hooray! This kitchen totally reflects my industrial farmhouse style, and the only two things I’d like to do in here are 1) replace the standard light fixtures that came with the home, and 2) possibly replace the faucet at some point to something a little more industrial/farmhouse looking.

Basement Rec Room

Here is the seating area of our basement rec room.  We bought a new sectional and pool table (you can see it in the background) back in August, and we finally hung a few pictures.  But, there is still much to do in this room…

Hidden from view in the above picture is this disaster of a TV area.

We are working out our plans for this space so that is doesn’t look so horrible. I’m thinking reclaimed wood wall, with TV mounted on the wall, and some media and side cabinets/shelves.  I think anything at this point would be an improvement.

Wet Bar

We have a wet bar in our new home!  I purchased the barstools from the same place we bought the pool table.  The stools are from Canada, and I couldn’t tell you who makes them, but one look, and I was in love..  So, for this room, I really want to wrap the peninsula with either brick tile, or reclaimed wood, or maybe even shiplap.  Not sure yet. Any suggestions?

Powder Room

Off of the rec room, we have a small powder room.  I think this room is asking for shiplap, so that’s on the list of long-term plans. We also replaced the standard builder lights with some new industrial lights back in September.

Guest Room

We have a second guest room in our house that has two twin beds in it.  You can see the start of the bedding I plan to use already on the beds.  I bought those cute iron beds from Wayfair.  The room is about to get painted Sherwin Williams’s Sea Salt, and then on the wall behind the beds I plan to add white shiplap.  Oh, and I’m also planning to paint the little white nightstand using Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint.  That will be a first for me, so I’ll let you know how it goes. Hoping to have it all ready by the holidays for family visitors!

So, that’s it for today.  Hope you enjoyed the tour of our home! More to come in future posts, so stay tuned.
