We’ve been doing a lot of work in our laundry room lately, and today noticed an unwelcome surprise – suds spewing out the back of the washing machine! What the heck! I’ve never seen so many bubbles… It was just like on TV when they put in too much detergent and suds end up all over the place. Only, it’s not as funny when it’s happening to you. Here is a picture of the massive amount of suds in the washing machine AFTER running a load. Crazy, right?
We did a bunch of troubleshooting…reading the manual, and searching the internet. We even cleaned out the drain filter (which we thought could be the problem), and found a quarter, pieces of paper, and an Orangina soda cap. Yuck! Note to self…washing machine drain filters need occasional cleaning.
But nothing was working. We kept running it, and suds kept coming out. The only thing we kept finding online was that we must be using the wrong detergent for our front loading machine. But, we’ve never had this problem before. Hmmmm. We took a closer look at the “high efficiency” laundry detergent we just bought at Costco, and compared it to our old bottle. Can you see the difference? The one of the left is our old bottler, which clearly has the ‘he’ written on the label. The one on the right is the new bottle, which has a little ‘he’ sticker, but nothing else about high efficiency on the label. I can only guess that someone thought it would be funny to put the ‘he’ sticker on a bottle of regular detergent.
We had to run 4 loads with just water alone to finally get rid of all the suds in the machine. We will be going back to Costco tomorrow for a replacement bottle. Hopefully, no one else suffered the same fate.
