Happy Friday Everyone!  I’m feeling particularly happy today because our mudroom makeover is almost finished!

Just to remind you, here’s where we started. You can read about why we decided it would be a good idea to demolish a perfectly good mudroom in Mudroom Makeover: Part I. Basically, our existing mudroom wasn’t functioning for our family. The hinged bench seat was always covered with stuff, so it was unusable. That meant that our shoes and things ended up outside the bench, taking up valuable space.

Here was our existing mudroom.

In our previous post, we showed the new bench with installed with cubbies open to the floor. Over the past weekend, we built and installed the side shelf cabinet box, and then added all of the remaining trim pieces.

Almost Finished!

And here’s where we are as of today. Everything has been primed and is ready for two final coats of paint  (and a little wall touch up). If all goes according to plan, we’ll be finished by next week.  So exciting!

This new design is going to make life so much easier for the Welshes. Things just have to be functional, you know? We are going to be able to store our sunscreen, winter hats, and gloves in baskets on the side shelves.  And, since we have an electrical outlet on the right-hand side, we can even charge our devices here. We can’t wait to finish up our mudroom makeover and enjoy the functional new design.
